WelcomeWe are Theta Iota Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, located at the University of Wisconsin - Platteville in Platteville, Wisconsin. Our chapter was founded on April 26, 1996, and is part of Epsilon A Province, which includes both Xi and Rho Chapters.
Before becoming Theta Iota Chapter, we were known as the "Minors", combining Platteville's mining heritage with a musical term. The first meeting of the Minors was held on March 5, 1995. It was around this time that the founding members of the chapter began looking for a national fraternity to start on campus, and finally applied to SAI Nationals in January 1996. 22 women were initiated into Sigma Alpha Iota at installation, which was conducted by Virginia Johnson, the National VP-Extension and Development, and Martha Dodds Stoner, the Epsilon A Province Officer. In our first year as a chapter, we received the Epsilon A College Chapter Achievement Award from our Province Officer, and won the University of Wisconsin - Platteville Alumnae Association Award for Outstanding Greek Leadership in both of our first two years as a chapter. Ever since, the women of Theta Iota Chapter have strived to fulfill the goals and purposes of SAI through involvement in music ensembles, theater, and through volunteering for both the music department and the community. |
